Wisdom of Athena is a Greek mythology slot from Pragmatic Play that combines pay anywhere wins with a grid that grows. Blockers on the top row are cleared as tumbles stack up, and multipliers from 2x to 500x can land. In free spins the grid progress and multiplier total carry over between spins. It suits you if you like the Gates of Olympus style but want a little extra build up in each spin.
How does Wisdom of Athena work?
Symbols land on a 6x5 grid, and any 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on screen pay. Winning symbols tumble away and new ones drop in.
The top row starts with blocker symbols. These are removed after set numbers of tumbles in a sequence (after 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15), which opens more space and more chances to win. In the base game the blockers return on each new spin. Bets range from 0.20 to 100 per spin.
What are the Wisdom of Athena bonus features?
Multiplier symbols from 2x to 500x can land in any spin. They are added together after the tumble sequence and applied to the win.
Four or more scatters award 10 free spins, and three or more during the round add 5 more. In free spins, multipliers feed a running total that does not reset, and the cleared top row stays open between spins. The ante bet raises the stake by 25% and adds more scatters, and the free spins buy costs 100x your bet where allowed.
The top row unlock thresholds are fixed at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 tumbles. In free spins, progress toward those thresholds carries over between spins, so once the top row is open it stays open for the rest of the round. That gives later spins more positions to work with and more chances for multipliers to meet a win.
Is Wisdom of Athena worth playing? RTP and volatility explained
The top RTP is 96.07%, or 96.08% with the ante bet or bonus buy. Versions near 95.09% and 94.09% are also offered. This is a little lower than many Pragmatic games at 96.5%.
Volatility is high and the max win is 5,000x your stake. The grid unlock gives more to watch than a standard pay anywhere slot, but outcomes still depend mostly on multipliers in free spins.
